Reef Tectonics ("Reef Tectonics," "we," "us," or "our") provides aquarium maintenance, design and installation services in the Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska metro areas. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information about our customers, prospective customers, website visitors and team members. By using our website, our customer portal, or our services, you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to do the work you ask us to do:

  • Contact details — name, mailing address, email address and phone number(s), provided when you request a consultation, become a customer, register for the customer portal, place a store order, or apply to work with us.
  • Service details — the location and description of the aquarium systems we care for, visit history, service requests, and photographs taken during service visits.
  • Billing details — invoices, charges and payment history. We do not store payment card numbers; any online payment is handled by a payment provider on their own secure pages.
  • Website and portal usage — standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) and the cookies needed to keep you signed in to the customer portal.
  • Mobile numbers for text messages — if you choose to receive text message notifications from us, the mobile number you provide and a record of your consent. See SMS Terms & Conditions.

How we use it

  • To schedule, perform and document aquarium service, installations and consultations.
  • To send operational and transactional notifications about your service — for example, visit confirmations, service updates, and account or billing messages.
  • To dispatch our own technicians, including urgent service notifications sent to team members who have agreed to receive them.
  • To bill for services and maintain our business records.
  • To respond to your questions and requests.
  • To operate, secure and improve our website and customer portal.

We do not use your information for third-party advertising, and we do not send marketing text messages.

Text messages (SMS)

Mobile information and text-message consent are never shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Any sharing described below excludes text-message opt-in data and consent; that information is used only to deliver the messages you agreed to receive.

When we share information

We share information only as needed to run the business, and never by selling it:

  • Service providers that help us operate — such as our email and text-message delivery providers, website hosting, and accounting software — and only to the extent needed to provide their service to us.
  • Facility management companies and property owners when we perform work at a commercial location on their behalf, limited to the details of that work.
  • When required by law, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Reef Tectonics, our customers or others.

Cookies

Our public website does not use tracking or advertising cookies. The customer portal uses a session cookie to keep you signed in; it is essential to the portal working and is removed when you sign out.

How we protect it

Customer and service records are kept in access-controlled systems available only to Reef Tectonics staff who need them for their work. Our website and portal are served over HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps appropriate to the information we hold.

How long we keep it

We keep customer and service records for as long as you are a customer and afterwards as needed for business, tax and legal purposes. Text-message consent records are kept as long as the number remains opted in, and a record of any opt-out is retained so that we honour it.

Your choices

  • You may ask us what information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it.
  • You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP.
  • You may ask us to close your customer portal account.

Our services and website are intended for adults and businesses. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
