Reef Tectonics (est. 1993) is a preferred provider of Reactive and Preventative Maintenance Services for several Facility Management Companies with a national presence. We're hiring a Field Service Technician on a "Per Workorder Basis".
This is a great fit for a skilled maintenance/handyman tech looking for additional income. Compensation is a $15.00 per hour base wage plus revenue sharing on every ticket you complete. Here is what that means in practice: technicians who perform in line with company performance expectations should earn an average of $25 per hour; outstanding technicians should earn in the $35 per hour range; and technicians who respond to Emergency Service Requests in 4 hours or less can expect compensation in the range of $50 per hour. Under no circumstances will you be paid less than $15.00 per hour.
The ideal candidate will self manage their schedule and ensure work is completed within the proper time frames based on Priority Levels and authorized times on site. You will need a reliable vehicle. We can provide tools or your can use your own if you prefer.
What you'll do:
- Perform Bi-weekly site surveys of a key client in the region.
- Handle general facilities/handyman tasks: minor HVAC (filters, basic repairs), plumbing/PVC, drains, lighting/ballasts, ceiling and floor tiles, and door hardware.
- Perform Reactive Repairs, retrofits, etc of Commercial Aquatic Systems.
- Manage your own route around assigned work orders and keep records.
What you need:
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record (you'll drive your vehicle but will be subject to approval by our insurance provider).
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort with hand and power tools; basic plumbing, electrical, and repair skills.
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and work in tight spaces.
- Reliability and self-direction; you manage your own schedule within work-order windows.
- Smartphone with a data plan and basic comfort using work-order apps.
- Preferred: aquarium (hobby counts!), a facilities/maintenance background, or an HVAC/plumbing/electrical license. EPA card for handling refridgerants is a big plus.
Details:
- W-2 employee; ticket-based with a flexible schedule.
- Pay: $15.00/hour guaranteed minimum, plus per-ticket revenue sharing (see the compensation summary above).
- Based out of Sacramento, CA; mostly local work, travel opportunites may be offered on a case by case basis.
- A clean criminal background check (since you'll work unsupervised inside client businesses).
